Duplex Steel Grades 2205 and 2507 are used by Technip EST Pvt. Ltd. for equipment needing exceptional strength and corrosion resistance in harsh process environments such as chemicals, oil & gas, marine, and desalination.
Composition & Properties: 2205 offers an excellent balance of strength, ductility, and corrosion resistance thanks to its ferrite-austenite microstructure. It is highly resistant to pitting, crevice, and stress corrosion cracking.
Applications: Widely used in pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, piping, sewage systems, pulp and paper plants, and chemical processing hardware where mid-to-high chloride environments are present.
Benefits: Twice the yield strength of common austenitic grades, effective at reducing equipment weight while maintaining mechanical reliability and corrosion resistance at a lower cost compared to super alloys.
Composition & Properties: 2507 contains higher chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen, resulting in even greater resistance to corrosion (especially chloride ions) and higher mechanical strength than 2205.
Applications: Designed for severe environments—offshore oil platforms, petrochemical plants, desalination/sea water equipment, high-pressure piping, and demanding chemical processes.
Benefits: Outstanding durability under high stress, temperature, and pressure, with minimal risk of pitting, erosion, and structural failure even in aggressive conditions.
Duplex steels offer excellent weldability, formability, low thermal expansion, and good fatigue and abrasion resistance.
Their dual-phase microstructure ensures superior reliability and service life in environments where conventional stainless steels might fail.
Technip EST Pvt. Ltd. uses Duplex grades 2205 and 2507 to deliver safe, lasting, and high-performance equipment for the world’s most demanding process sectors.
