Copper, Brass, Cu Ni 70:30 & 90:10

Copper, brass, and copper-nickel (Cu Ni 70:30 & 90:10) alloys are utilized by Technip EST Pvt. Ltd. for equipment demanding exceptional corrosion resistance, thermal conductivity, and durability, particularly in marine, heat exchanger, and industrial piping applications.

Alloy Performance and Selection

  • Cu Ni 90:10 contains 90% copper and 10% nickel, plus minor iron/manganese for improved mechanical strength and is highly cost-effective for marine piping, heat exchangers, and systems exposed to standard seawater and heat transfer requirements. The alloy offers great corrosion resistance and ease of fabrication in less aggressive environments.

  • Cu Ni 70:30 comprises 70% copper and 30% nickel, with additional iron/manganese to boost performance under severe, high-velocity, and aggressive seawater or chemical conditions. This grade is preferred for offshore platforms, desalination, and applications where maximum resistance to biofouling and erosion is required.

Industrial Applications

Copper alloys—including brass and Cupronickel—are widely used in pump and valve bodies, heat exchangers, ship fittings, and piping systems for their antimicrobial properties, machinability, and resistance to corrosion in saltwater environments. Their unique combination of heat transfer, durability, and formability makes them essential for sectors ranging from marine to automotive and heavy industry.

Mechanical & Physical Properties

These alloys exhibit robust mechanical performance across varying temperatures:

  • Good creep and fatigue resistance for cyclical loads

  • Uniform protective coatings and minimal biofouling for critical seawater exposure

  • Stable mechanical properties at low and elevated temperatures, ensuring long service life in harsh conditions.

Technip EST Pvt. Ltd. applies a strategic mix of copper, brass, and copper-nickel alloys to balance cost, performance, and reliability in demanding industrial and marine environments.
